By incorporating yoga props into your yoga practice, you can explore new levels of comfort and stability in your poses, improve your alignment, and reduce the risk of injury.

Props are used in yoga to help support the body in various poses, allowing students to experience the benefits of the poses more deeply, safely and comfortably. Props can also be used to modify poses for students with injuries or limitations, making yoga accessible to a wider range of people.

Here are some common props used in yoga and how they can improve practice:

  1. Yoga Blocks: Yoga blocks are used to extend the reach of the arms or provide support for the lower back, hips, or feet. By using blocks, you can deepen your stretches and prevent strain on your joints.
  2. Yoga Straps: Yoga straps are used to help you stretch further, especially in seated forward bends or other stretching poses. Straps are also used to help maintain proper form in certain poses, like Triangle pose or Warrior II.
  3. Yoga Blankets: Yoga blankets can be used to cushion the knees, provide support for the back, or as a prop in seated poses. They are also used in restorative yoga to provide warmth and comfort.
  4. Yoga Bolsters: Yoga bolsters are used in restorative yoga to support the body in supine poses, like Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Bound Angle Pose). Bolsters can also be used to provide support for the back, head, or legs in other poses.
  5. Yoga Wheels: Yoga wheels are a relatively new prop, and they are used for deep backbends, as well as for stretching and strengthening the chest, back, and hips.
