The New Yoga By Rob Walker At Amazon

Many of you who come to my classes every week know it's likely very different from what you may have experienced elsewhere.

I give you:

  • Personalized feedback and encouragement
  • Tell you the benefits of individual poses
  • Focus each class on a specific topic of benefit
  • Create a non-competitive and inclusive culture

But for those still questioning the merit of coming to mine or any yoga classes, the benefits of The New Yoga are worth restating:

Four years ago, I felt compelled to redefine yoga as much more than “a good stretch.” So I published The New Yoga: From Cult and Dogma to Science and Sanity to spell out many benefits that you'll get from my evidence-based classes often overlooked elsewhere.

A new world of biomechanics has boomed in the last 30 years leaving many yoga teachers still giving cues based on folklore handed down from generation to generation.

Coming to my classes each week you'll experience the benefit of functionally effective teaching, addressing the need for strength, endurance, mobility, mindfulness, breath, posture and many other gifts that yoga potentially offers but are rarely the focus of the average class.

Many yoga teachers, including the more than 500 I have trained over the past 20 years, are questioning what is taught in yoga, what is of value, what is questionable and what is frankly, dangerous, or at best ill-informed.

For the first time The New Yoga takes a hard look at those concerns and suggests how asanas (poses) can become safer, more inclusive and evidence based.

I retain the amazing gifts and insights I learned from three trips to India but draw on the current wisdom of biomechanics, kinesiology and my own experience. The New Yoga plays down the obsession with flexibility. Instead of Cirque du Soleil images of yoga on Instagram, The New Yoga brings you wider benefits, with each class focussing on a separate topic.

Check out your first class in southwest Calgary for free using the code FREE24 when you sign up at www.newyoga.ca Or you could send this link to a friend.

The hesitant can explore a recorded class (some of which are free) in the comfort of their own home by clicking here.

Coming in person there are many ways to pay with 10X, 20X and monthly memberships that can reduce the cost of a class to less than $6 for those who come often. Click here to take you to that page.

I'd love to share with you this amazing journey of science-based yoga. So, hopefully I'll see you on the mat soon!

Rob
