Chairs are often used to teach seniors and those who have difficulty standing. But this class is for anyone who wants to broaden their experience, using this valuable tool.
Chair yoga is not necessarily easier than conventional yoga; it may often be harder.
Using a chair lets you stay longer in poses and get better alignment.
I use a steel folding chair with the back taken out to allow you to sit through the chair. But an ordinary sturdy folding chair is fine.
In this class we’ll explore a range of standing poses, forward folds, seated and twisted poses. You will see how chair yoga can increase flexibility, strength, and improve your alignment. This class is for everyone from the beginner to intermediate practitioner.
In general, apart from a yoga mat, Rob uses two wooden or plastic blocks, two thinner foam blocks, an 8 foot yoga strap, a yoga blanket and a yoga bolster. These are not essential but recommended for a better experience. They can be bought on the resources page here.
