Variability is such an important gift of yoga!
Rob’s book The New Yoga: From Cult and Dogma to Science and Sanitystrongly advocates variability in yoga: switching up the familiar way of practicing.
Incorporating variability in yoga practice, including diverse poses, sequences, and approaches, offers numerous benefits such as stimulating physical adaptation, preventing plateaus, providing mental stimulation, reducing injury risk, and promoting holistic development of the body and mind.
In general, apart from a yoga mat, Rob uses two wooden or plastic blocks, two thinner foam blocks, an 8 foot yoga strap, a yoga blanket and a yoga bolster. These are not essential but recommended for a better experience. They can be bought on the resources page here.
